French Pedicure

French pedicure: a few details!

Do you know what makes a French pedicure so unique? Well to tell you the truth it’s exactly like a French manicure and that’s what makes the pedicure so pretty. Now to be entirely fair, opinions about the French manicure and the French pedicure vary across users.

Just as some people really like haircuts and a particular hair style suits a person; French pedicures don’t really suit everyone. A famous fashion editor also panned the French pedicure and manicure style as too simple and useless for any occasion!

However, when you are a working professional having brightly painted toenails and finger nails is a complete no-no! Having dark or even bright red nails send a message of frivolity that can be a serious deterrent to your professional image in a corporate office. The best polish for such people is the French pedicure and the French Manicure. Even if you cannot afford it, here is a simple guide on how to create the clean and shaped appearance of a good French pedicure.

How it looks like?

If you’ve already done a French manicure then you already know how it looks like. For the beginner let me explain. Imagine the entire process of a natural manicure where your nails are cleaned and the foot buffed completely to remove all dead skin and debris. Once that is done, the nails are filed and cleaned and then shaped.

Till here the entire process is the same as a simple manicure and a pedicure. But the changes come in the color of your freshly cleaned nails. A French pedicure emphasizes the natural color of the nail and the nail bed. The nail is painted a color that makes it look completely transparent and blushing pink. The nail tip is then colored with a thin swipe of white nail polish to make it look like a thin rim of nail is present.

The end appearance is that the nail looks clean and fresh and completely new. If it’s done right, then it looks like absolutely nothing has been to your clean toes. The same appearance can be done on your fingernails and it creates a completely professional look to your fingers and toes. Another advantage is that the nails look completely clean and not worked on.

Where to get it done?

Well, the entire process can be done at home as all you have to do is dump some bleach in warm water and soap or detergent. Soak your feet for about ten to twenty minutes and then start the process of cleaning out your nails and dead skin.

If you have a loofah, use it to scrub away the dead nail and hair and trim away any hang nails. Please remember not to dig too deep into the corners or you can land up with painful hang nails. Trim away any long toe hairs and dead skin on the toes. If you have the time and the patience then give yourself a good feet massage. But frankly, this works much better if you get it done by a professional.

Once the entire process of cleaning the nails is done you can source two simple and cheap nail polishes at a local store. You will need a peach or pink or even a pink with a little shine to apply the base coat. The other color is a pure white or a pearly white for applying at the nail rim. Paint your nails with two coats of the pink polish and wait till it’s completely dry. Then swipe the white across the rim. Voila, the French pedicure is ready for viewing

Care of your French pedicure

Toe nail polish wears off really fast. But if you take care of your feet well, you should be able to make the effect last for at least a month.
