French Pedicure

French pedicure basics!

To tell you the truth, not many people like to keep their toe nails bare of nail polish. You will find that almost all women paint their toe nails a dark color to prevent any defects from showing through and to prevent chipping. But trends do change. When you do think about painting your toe nails this time around, and then consider getting a French pedicure done.

What is a French pedicure?

No one knows who exactly came up with the idea of a French pedicure but stylist’s state that the process of creating nude nails started as a trend in France. Stylists painted nails blushing pink and then swiped a white strip across the top to signify the white nail top. The nail seemed to be clean and clear without any nail polish and created a perfectly clean look. This look was great for working professional women who did not like to have dark colors or too light colors on their nails. The French pedicure and manicure was ideal for the bland invisible appearance it created. But the French pedicure and manicure was panned by several critics too who stated that there was no sense creating nude nails when you could just as well as leave then unpainted after a good manicure or pedicure. The debate still rages but the trend of getting a good French pedicure is now really popular.

How do you get it done?

Getting it done is really easy as most stylists and nail salons already have the nail polish in stock. You can ask for a French pedicure and manicure for yourself and the stylist will do it for you. Please be advised that most salons will have to get a particular nail polish set that is specially designed for a French pedicure and a manicure. Several coats have to be placed and the top white coat has to be done precisely to look natural. After the top white coat another pink coat is swiped on to set the color and the French pedicure. The process is lengthy and expensive as most salons will charge you for the process and a massage to work out the kinks in your feet. If you cannot afford the professional charges get kit and do it yourself at home.

Do it yourself works?

Most professional make up companies have a French pedicure and manicure set ready for sale. Revlon is just one company with a ready French pedicure set for sale. You might not be able to afford the cost so chose two separate ordinary colors like pale peachy-pink and a pearly white overcoat to buy as a set. It works just as well. Just remember that the peachy-pink should be the same as your nail bed and the white should be exactly the same as you’re shaped growing-white nail. Carry out an ordinary foot pedicure and massage your foot to remove all dead skin and nail debris. Then shape the nail as you would naturally. Dry your feet and then apply a base coat of peachy pink nail polish. Wait for it to dry and then swipe a white coat on the nail top (then end you cut when the nail grows too long.)  Try to mimic the natural appearance of your nail as much as possible. Once the nail coat has dried you have to put on another coat to let the French pedicure look completely natural.

Precautions to preserve the look

After so much hard work to create the French pedicure look you have to make sure that you save the look for as long as possible. Just swipe on a coat of transparent nail polish to protect it and you should be fine.
